The NEB appeared before the House Standing Committee on Natural Resources on 9 February 2012 as part of that committee’s study on the “Current and Future State of Oil and Gas Pipelines and Refining Capacity in Canada.” The committee’s report was not tabled until the subsequent fiscal year. Details will be provided in the 2012-13 DPR.

Response to the Auditor General (including to the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)

The Office of the Auditor General released the 2011 December Report of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development on 13 December 2011.

  • Chapter one of the report examined the shipment of dangerous products transported throughout Canada. It specifically examined how the National Energy Board determines whether regulated organizations have complied with established legislation and standards in transporting dangerous products and whether they have prepared emergency response plans.
  • The recommendations and the Board’s response are contained in section 1.78 of the report.
External Audits conducted by the Public Service Commission of Canada or the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages
The Audit of the National Energy Board was completed in 2011 by the Public Service Commission.
