Natural Gas Order Applications:

Applicants need to identify the gas type on each application. (i.e. Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas, Compressed Natural Gas). Only one gas type may be selected per application. Multiple regulatory authorizations are required for different gas types.

Note that applicants who wish to import gas with the intention of subsequently exporting it do not need to apply for an export order. Applicants who wish to export gas with the intention of subsequently importing also do not need to apply for an export order. In both cases, please see the next section to apply for an in-transit order.

Applicants who wish to apply for long-term natural gas export licenses (2 years and longer) are advised to contact the Canada Energy Regulator at 403-292-4800 or 1-800-899-1265 or info@cer-rec.gc.ca.

In-transit orders authorize the movement of gas between Canada and the U.S. and back to the country of origin (export for subsequent import or import for subsequent export). Applicants must specify the annual quantity intended for transit through Canada and/or the U.S., the pipeline(s) the gas will be re-imported and/or re-exported from, and the intended export and import points to be used.
