NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. - Eastern Alberta System Mainline Modifications
Project Background
NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) has filed a project application for the Eastern Alberta System Mainline (EAS ML) Modifications Project. The proposed project involves construction, operation, and decommissioning components of the EAS ML pipeline system to support the ongoing integrity, maintenance, and cost-effectiveness of transmission service on the system. The project involves construction of new pipeline crossovers between existing NGTL pipelines and decommissioning of portions of existing NGTL pipelines and infrastructure, including pipe and infrastructure suspended above the South Saskatchewan. The project will be located approximately 40 km south of Empress, Alberta in Cypress County and in Special Areas Board Area No. 2 and is planned for implementation in two stages. The project will not require the acquisition of permanent new land. Temporary workspace is currently anticipated to be required for the project and located on NGTL’s previously disturbed existing rights-of-way.
Project construction is planned to commence on 24 June 2024, with an expected project-in-service date in November 2024.
